Ubox is an AI-powered unified email inbox. It connects to your existing Gmail and IMAP accounts, triages every email into categories (urgent, needs reply, FYI, newsletter), and drafts replies in your writing style. Nothing is sent without your explicit approval.

Spark stores your emails on Spark's servers. Ubox keeps your emails on your own mailbox server — we read them to triage and draft, but never store them long-term. Ubox also supports self-hosted IMAP servers (Dovecot, Postfix) that Spark does not support.

No. Ubox never sends an email without your explicit approval. The AI drafts a reply and presents it to you. You review it, optionally edit it, and tap Approve. Only after that does Ubox send. This is enforced at the database level — the send endpoint checks for an approved record created by your session.

Yes. Ubox connects to Gmail via the official Gmail API using OAuth 2.0. You authorise Ubox in your Google account and no password is required. Ubox also works with any IMAP/SMTP server including self-hosted mail servers running Dovecot and Postfix.

Yes. Ubox supports any IMAP/SMTP server including self-hosted servers running Dovecot and Postfix (common on Virtualmin, DirectAdmin, or bare servers). Connect with your username, password, and server details.

No. Your email data is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising or any other purpose. Emails are sent to Anthropic's API solely to generate triage classifications and reply drafts — they are not used to train AI models. The only third-party services Ubox uses are Stripe for billing and Anthropic for AI inference.

When a new email arrives, Ubox first checks your sender rules (deterministic — no AI needed). If no rule matches, the email content is sent to an AI model which classifies it as one of: Urgent, Needs reply, FYI, Newsletter, or Spam suspect. You can override any classification and teach Ubox your preferences over time.

You can export all your data at any time from Settings. After cancellation, your data is retained for 30 days then permanently deleted. You can also request immediate deletion from Settings at any point.
